Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): EcoRI--7.0; HindIII--4.6, 2.4; EcoRI/BamHI--4.4, 2.9; BamHI--7.0; AvaI--7.0; PvuII--7.0. This probe detects sequences in the distal end of Yp. In HindIII digests, hybridizes to a 2.2 kb Y-specific fragment and 2 larger autosomal polymorphic fragments. Y-specificity was found in 9 of 11 XX males. No Y-specific hybridization detected in two 46,XX hermaphrodites. Isolated from a flow-sorted human Y chromosome library enriched for DNA from the Y euchromatic portion. |
