Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): EcoRI--8.1, BamHI--8.0 + small fragment; EcoRI/BamHI--4.9, 2.7, + small fragment; HindIII--4.1, 3.0, 0.7; SalI--8.1. The insert contains two internal HindIII sites and one BamHI site. Insert contains MspI (5), HindII (2), PstI (5), and HindIII (1) sites. Clone includes exons 3-8, parts of introns 2 and 8, and introns 3-7. The portion of intron 2 includes a repetitive sequence. Exon 6 contains sequence compatible with a hairpin structure. Shows 90% homology with coding region of hamster vimentin. Positions of non-coding regions conserved, but less than 45% homology between the human and hamster intron sequences. |
