Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): SalI--8.2; BamHI--8.2; EcoRI/PstI--4.2, 3.6. The spcR marker is expressed in R. capsulatus. A wide range of transcription levels can be obtained by varying the nitrogen source in the medium. Transcription can be immediately stopped by the introduction of oxygen and ammonia.
