Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): EcoRI--2.8, 1.2; HindIII--4.0; PstI--3.1, 0.46, 0.29; BamHI--3.8; SalI--4.0. Clone starts at nt 331 (corresponding to amino acid 111) after the ATG and extends to the stop codon. Includes part of exon 1 through exon 9. Shows 90% homology with coding region of hamster vimentin. Positions of non-coding regions conserved, but less than 45% homology between the human and hamster intron sequences. cHuVim1 has been used to detect a 2.0 kb mRNA in various mouse cell lines. |
