BamHI will excise the insert with flanking vector sequences (101 bp at the 5' end and 35 bp at the 3' end). Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): EcoRI--5.4, BamHI--3.2, 2.15; PstI--2.1, 1.4, 0.9 + smaller; SacI--5.4; HindIII--4.8, 0.4. At the amino acid level, murine and human C4bp are 51% identical in the regions aa 1-247 and aa 376-546 (human C4BP numbering). Murine protein lacks the fifth and sixth repeating units of human C4BP (aa 248-375). |
