| Comments | Genome copy number is based on the quantification of the 16S rRNA gene from nine averaged samples. Mycoplasma pneumoniae (ATCC 15531) has one copy of the 16S rRNA gene per cell. The reported genome copy number may vary depending on quantitation method used. The limits of detection for this nucleic acid preparation will depend on the set of primers used. Primer efficiency should be determined empirically. This preparation of high molecular weight DNA is appropriate for use in the polymerase chain reaction (PCR)* process and other molecular biology applications. *The PCR process is covered by patents owned by Hoffmann-La Roche Inc.
