The galactokinase (GALS) promoter is a deletion variant of GAL1, which lacks one and a half of the 3 UAS elements required for full induction of the promoter by galactose. The promoter is tightly repressed by glucose and is induced at a moderate level by galactose. Low copy number shuttle expression vector.
