One of the PstI sites on the insert was destroyed during cloning.
The insert begins 5' of the EcoRI site at position 342 of the published sequence and extends 3' between the StuI site at 4041 and the SalI site at 4677. It encodes most of the beta chain (129-2054) and part of the alpha (2067-5045).
